What do you do when all of you has turned blue?
When sorrow turns you mean, and you fear turning green?
What do you do when two sides of you battle over what to do?
What do you do when the blue never really helped, and the green keeps you from being felt?
What do I do if they see me, and all they see is blue?
I cannot let them know it is true. So I will be green: like money, greed, and envy, or a stone: pretty, cold, yet heavy.
That is what they’ll see. From jade my armor is made
And when they ask me, how did I make it? I will tell them I’m jaded.
"Jaded" is a double entendre that represents a transition rooted in trauma, hard as stone, yet emotionally drained. Blue begins as sorrow, but lingering grief it hardens, yellows, and turns green, a color of envy, disgust, or protection like Jade. The yellow rises from the ego, overtaking the heart’s green center and splitting the self, showing how prolonged sorrow leaves one jaded.
